Welcome to our homepage!
We debated the name for our Bed and Breakfast, but the herons that lived in the cove kept showing up every time we had
our discussion, so we decided that must be the name. With all the development that is going on around us they seem very confused
and we are not sure how long they will be with us, so we may be named in memory of our friends in the cove.
Raine and Terry (oh yes, and Rex our "wonder dog") want to welcome guests to our home on Lake Norman. Raine
is happy to have folks watch her work in her pottery studio or to arrange a pottery experience for a guest that may want to
get their hands dirty. We are also the home of Hartzog Pottery.

If you are arriving from the Lake, you will recognize our house by the stone arch beneath the kitchen. Little Fork Cove is
also across from the Lincoln County water intake. Coming from the main channel between markers 12 and 13 it is past the Little
Creek Access Area.
But more importantly once you are here the view denotes peace and quiet.

We opened our doors in March 2006 for our first guests and we have welcomed numerous guests from Pennsylvania, Texas,
Indiana, Maryland, California, New York, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Vermont, Rhode Island, the UK, New Zealand, as
well as North Carolina. We have been pleased that all have been very exclusive guests!
The Blue Heron offers two bedrooms,
the Bessie and the Bonnie, named after two of our grandmothers. Both rooms have a water view and include a private bath, exterior
entrance and a queen size bed.
Due to liability limitations we are not be able to accept guests under the age of 16,
nor allow more than two people to a room. Rex (our outside Border Collie) is rather insistent that we not allow other pets
and of course no smoking in the house.
Our dock can accommodate a boat and we welcome guests that wish to arrive from
the water.
Our breakfast menu includes a standard breakfast which we will review with you when you make a reservation
or when you arrive, and we also have a snack table always stocked with delights. Sodas, tea, and coffee are always available.
